Backwards Design: Week 2 Assignment 3

Backward design is a design process in which your focus is the goal of the curriculum. By focussing on the goal you form a lesson heavily based in critical and creative thinking. The lessons must not rely on texts or tests but they should be used as support.

There are 3 stages

  1. what are the desired results- goal
  2. what is acceptable evidence of that they have learned
  3. Plan- how can i reach my goal (what instructional strategies do I use)
The lesson is more student focussed and by using socratic questions students are thinking critically, the focus is on truly understanding what is being taught and not repetition or memorizing based.
